Sharon High is excited to announce its first community read! This summer, all students and staff will read Angie Thomas's
On the Come Up in preparation for activities and conversation inspired by the text.
Students will receive a copy of the book and a bookmark on Monday, 6/17.
Summer Reading For ELA
For many courses, On the Come Up is the only required text for summer reading (though we strongly encourage students to choose one other choice book to read).
Other courses have additional reading assignments.

Looking for a second book to read?
The ELA department encourages all students to read at least two books over the summer. If your course only requires one text, check out the SHS Library or Sharon Public Library websites for book suggestions!
LOCATING SUMMER READING
All students will be provided a copy of On the Come Up.
The Sharon Public Library (located on 11 N. Main Street) will order copies of all other summer reading books for students to check out for two-week intervals.
Summer reading books may also be purchased at the Barnes & Noble location at the Walpole Mall (82 Providence Highway/508-688-1303). These books will be ordered in bulk to meet the needs of Sharon students.
REMINDER FOR STUDENTS
It is important that students bring their required summer reading books to class with them in September. Teachers will reference and use them during in-class activities and assessments. Please contact Rebecca Smoler, the ELA Curriculum Coordinator (Grades 6- 12), with any questions or for assistance in acquiring a book.
